A sexy novel for mobile devices

BY CHUCK O'DONNELL
A 95-pound weakling who dares to tug on Superman's cape stands a better chance than a small-press graphic novel does in trying to stand out from the newest offerings from Marvel and DC.
That is, if your local comic book shop even stocks small-press books.
So Maywood's Joe Caramagna is resorting to a secret weapon in his fight to get his graphic novel in the hands of more comic book fans.
You can download his book, "Model Operandi," onto your Blackberry, Treo and most newer mobile devices.
Caramagna isn't so sure that he's a trailblazer, but his work is one of the first — if not the first — "mobile comic books" in the world.

EXCLUSIVE SKETCHBOOK FEATURES JUSTINIANO, ELIOPOULOS
One-of-a-kind item to be featured at the third annual New York Comic Con
NEW YORK, NY-- Comic book creators Dennis Budd and Joe Caramagna have announced that they will offer a convention-exclusive sketchbook at the New York Comic Con the weekend of April 18th. The sketchbook will feature characters from their comic book property Model Operandi™ as drawn by Budd and an assortment of guest artists that includes Justiniano (DC's "52") and Chris Eliopoulos (Marvel's "Franklin Richards: Son of a Genius").
"Dennis and I are so grateful to all of the participating artists for donating sketches for the sketchbook," said Caramagna. "They all did such a great job and there is some great artwork here that can't be seen anywhere else. If you're a fan of any of these talented artists, or just a fan of good comic book art in general, you'll love it, absolutely." Other artists that donated sketches include: Chris Giarrusso, Rich Molinelli, Brian Kong, Jason May, Jason Martin, Matthew Tow and Andrew Edge. And because the book features a bonus sketch cover, it is customizable to any fan in attendance at the convention.
Model Operandi™ is the story of a world-famous supermodel and her friends who stumble into trouble wherever they go. The first critically-acclaimed graphic novel "Affair of the Heart" was published by After Hours Press in 2006, and a special one-shot is due out in the Fall of 2008.
The "2008 Model Operandi Sketch Book: New York Comic Con Exclusive Edition" is sponsored by StupidVideos.com and will be available in limited numbers at the After Hours Press booth #2447 at the Jacob Javitz Center in New York City, April 18-20.
